The Button Up

So it turns out there is a difference between a “button up” and a “button down.” A button up means a shirt with buttons up and down the front, like the one I have on in this blog. A button down, is a shirt that has 2 buttons on the tip of the collar to BUTTON DOWN the shirt. My life is no different knowing this information, but I like to pass on what I learn! Haha.

I was trying to teach my mother that you don’t have to spend $80 on a black silk type shirt. Quality is different, as it should be, but getting a silk type shirt (aka satin) is a real thing! I had her purchase this button up last spring and now it’s in my closet. I ain’t mad! Lucky for you- H&M is carrying a shirt very similar for only $12.99. It also comes in powder pink, pigeon blue, and kahki.

I wanted to leave you with a few visuals on how transitional this button up really is. **Keep in mind that NY weather is cold and by the time my husband gets home the daylight is gone- the pictures are not super excellent at all.**

All black, with chunky jewelry. Add a statement shoe and it changes the whole thing. Adding leather adds some easy edge.

Layering is the most inexpensive way to revamp your look! Try this shirt under a dress or sweater! Adding accessories and some black tights help with color blocking.Doing a different black on black option. The beautiful thing about this button up, no matter the color, it will always look chic under any blazer! It will also work under a denim jacket, leather like the first outfit, or under a poncho.

Dress it down completely. Add sneakers and a topknot or leather and wear it open and relax. **this is a real outfit I wear at home**

Tuck it in, wear it flowy, tie it up- manipulating the shape of the shirt changes the same outfit over and over. Pair this shirt with some joggers or a colored skinny jean!

Transition this shirt into the spring and summer months. It is cute and casual with espadrilles or a pair of leather slides. Add different denim washes or even cut off shorts!
