The Christmas Card

‘Tis the season and with that – well it’s that time of year again- time for the annual “Family Christmas Photo”! I’m going back in time and showing you our past Christmas photos. We coordinated our outfits so often, I feel like you could swipe through my Instagram for outfit inspiration. But what I really want to do is to get your minds thinking about what you’re going to do for your family photos!

Before you begin to get overwhelmed, here is a starting point – find one item that you really want to have in the photo. For example – a hat or a dress – then begin to build around that. For a holiday card you can do so many different things; colorful, shades of a color (like gray), , stripes, even pajamas! I LOVE the family matching pajama photos. **stay tuned for ours** I mean, is it even Christmas if there aren’t any jammies?

My and Josh’s first Christmas was 6 years ago in 2010. We tried to continue my childhood tradition of going to NYC every year. This is us in NYC- just babies! You can’t tell we coordinated our outfits, but, I promise we did.

The next year I was in the hospital (December 21, 2011 having Giacobi). Needless to say we couldn’t fit in a NYC trip that week and I certainly was not about to take any photos of myself! Refer to Facebook for all the Giacobi pictures.

The next year, 2012, Gg was even more beautiful and I wanted to jump on the “tradition train” of sending out a Christmas card. G was two weeks shy of one year here.

I had to put my gentlemen in their suits! So cute, right!? This carriage was a surprise gift from my father. I love men who listen and make my ideas come to life!! It was super easy having the guys dressed up. Having them in black and white allowed me to be able to wear anything.

Then came 2013 and I had so many ideas but I wish I could rewind and do the idea that I really wanted to. I made a joke to Josh that I wanted to do a Christmas pregnancy announcement. That was before I even knew that I was pregnant! Everything was printed and mailed out by the time we figured it out, so we announced it to our family at Christmas and via FaceTime for those who weren’t there.

(This is a picture of a picture and filters were awesome at this point in time.)

Emerald was our theme. Giacobi already had this navy velour blazer but I wanted to add emerald. I found an emerald bow tie and then purchased an emerald dress to match him. Josh had a cream sweater that helped tie everything together. He could have went with a navy plaid, navy patterned button up, a matching velour blazer, or even shades of gray to compliment the emerald theme!

Our baby, Paxton, joined us in the summer of 2014! So Christmas 2014 he was here. Our theme this year was flannel and a rustic/woodsy feel. I wanted it to look cozy and Christmassy.

On to our most current photos – Christmas 2015. I was so behind on our Christmas photos that I didn’t want to make the kids sit outside. I tore apart our living room and put together the couch and pillows to make a classy holiday look. If you look really close you can totally see our dining room in the background. My cousin Katie took the photo for us! Totally a life saver! By the way – Pax is totally photoshopped! Lol
