The Flannel
Most people love autumn because the leaves are falling and the air is brisk. White girls go crazy for that pumpkin Spice everything… clothes get cozy and boots come out! I find it only appropriate to blog about the forever popular, flannel! Come on, we all own one- whether you borrowed it from your grandfather and or just purchased a brand new one; we can agree that they are kind of necessary in Upstate NY. All 3 of my boys will sport a flannel at some point during the cooler weather. This time of year one of the most popular clothing items has got to be “The Flannel!” They are sort of “fallish” aren’t they? And with the new bright colors, even more so.
My dear friend Jordan Short, is running an event “Channel Your Flannel” for United Way of the Valley and Greater Utica Area. It is being held this Thursday, November 12, from 6:00p.m.- 8:30p.m. at Lukin’s Brick Oven Pizza, 640 Varick Street. You can get tickets at the door for $20. All of the proceeds will go to our United Way who helps 1 out of 5 people in our community!!
Below is my husband (Josh) showing you 3 different ways to Channel “The Flannel.”
Wear as is – If you get a classic pattern that isn’t too busy, just wear as is. Throw on some jeans (black or blue) and a pair of boots and you’re ready! To clarify, just because its flannel does not mean you need lumberjack boots. A moto boot, a military boot, a timberland type boot, whatever it is that you own and like – go for it!
Leave it open and add a shirt underneath. Josh added a basic black scoop. Add a concert tee or a V-neck. Keep it casual.
Change it up by adding to the flannel. Josh went with a big cardigan. You can also add a denim or leather jacket. This is great for when you have limited clothing options! It adds that “something extra” without having to purchase multiple outfits. Great mix and match feature!I
hope you all get to Channel Your Flannel this fall and winter season!!
