The Birthday Post
MY thoughts –
Anyone that knows me knows that getting older is very difficult for me. I love my birthday and live almost everyday like it’s my birthday, but goodness, the thought of getting older makes me turn into a morbid, creepy human. As 28 quickly, I mean quickly approached I kept praying “God show me a different perspective. I know it’s a blessing to grow older but help me to believe it!” It wasn’t until the last day of being 27 that I felt God speak to me – “You have so much to look forward to…”
The more I thought about those words and started to link “life” to those words it actually brought tears to my eyes…
I get to be a part of whatever God chooses for another day.. maybe 10,000 more days! I get to walk deeper in my anointing. I have the ultimate privilege to love people for another year. I get to walk along side of people and be part of their journey, their stories!!
I get to look back on 28 years of life! I have the opportunity to remember all that the Lord has done for me and in me. I get to make it through some crappy days and know that I am equipped for more crappy days ahead, only now with the ability to handle them with greater wisdom and understanding. I get to remember that no matter what, in every season He is there and He is ENOUGH.
I have the honor to look back at where God has used me. This year marks ten years in youth ministry as a leader. It is a big deal to be consistent in something from 18 years old. I’ve been part of building the kingdom and I still get to! I’ve played a role in friends’ love stories, birth stories, tragedies and deaths- me, I got to be part of moments!
Twenty eight – 2-8- holds another year to fall in love with the man of my dreams. I can’t imagine how much love I will have for him in another 28 years! I literally get to watch 2 babies grow up- how could I ever not want to watch that! I get to teach them, or even better watch Josh teach them – ha! Maybe I get to have a third?! I get to snuggle for another year. I get to move forward in a business that the Lord spoke into motion. I get to make new friends and cherish the ones I am so blessed to already have (From NY-RI -VA- IL)! I am seriously just downright blessed! People wonder why I say everyday is my birthday!
Festivities-
I really do celebrate all month. I make sure my nails and toes are perfect. I prefer gel on my toes and nails. I make sure my hair is healthy. I get it cut and colored so it looks perfect the entire month and I will be birthday ready to celebrate at any moment! I try and find ways to relax more. I make is so I can lay in the sun during nap times, even if it is once a week. Lastly I get my birthday list ready just in case anyone needs gift ideas. (This list is available all year; items are subject to change.) This year I wanted my first pair of Louboutins. (Of course, I want them everyday!) Didn’t happen… yet, but that is ok! I am so thankful either way! Below is a gift one of my bff’s put together.
A louboutin fund! Lol I literally laughed so hard but it was such a thoughtful gift! I had one of my favorite clients already contribute!
Birthday week is so fun for my family and me! Josh lives for birthday week, I am pretty sure he likes it better than his very own birthday! I ordered a different item each day and we did little dates/celebrations in between. I was blessed enough to get basically everything I wanted- yay for 28!
The Dress-
I usually opt for black because it always looks good but I wanted to change it up with white! I wanted it to feel special and I wanted to stand out. I searched a few different stores before I found the perfect dress. Once I found it I still had to modify it!
This was the original dress- I apologize for the mirror pictures. I should have had Gg take my photos but all of this happened during a nap time!
I cut the top to a V-neck making the dress a little sexier. Not slutty but just a pinch sexier.
The back came up so high that it looked too much like a work out tank. With the high neck and my booty sticking out, it caused the dress to tent out. I cut the back a little lower so the dress would “Hang on me.” This gave the back a sleek look, drawing more attention to my skin vs my booty. It also made my body look a little bit longer, which then makes it look thinner.
I love the raw edges. I am still undecided if I want to cut the bottom so it matches the top. Either way it looked exactly like I had wanted!
The night of my birthday Stephanie Orsomarso from Tease and Makeup offered to do my makeup! She is seriously one of my best gals forever! By the time I stopped talking her ear off I was ready- the daylight was over. Nothing says “Birthday” more than a bathroom selfie!
Second Look-
I shot another look during the day so you could see the dress better. I opted for a more relaxed look and added a nude pump and a red lip. I wanted to keep it classic and cool so I added some aviators and no make up.
